I have worked in the technique of woodblock printing for many years. However, some time ago I decided to no longer use this technique solely for the purpose to produce editions (I thought that there were better and more effective means to do that). For me, if that old technique was to make sense also in the 21 st century it could

only be by being a possibility to produce works of art that could only be done by that very technique and no other.

Thus I started replacing editions by doing series of monoprints instead. That is to say I set of with a certain theme or image, which I then change or develop further by adding new printing blocks, reworking these, leaving away already used ones, etc. So that in the end I end up with a series of 15 – 25 images, all unique and originals, but being variations or developments of the basic image or theme. In that way these series show a theme in progress, one print is liked to the next, they all are related to each other, they form and reflect the idea of networks, it is impossible to declare which of these images is first and which might constitute a final stage.

Just as things do not have only one appearance; rather, everything can be viewed from different angles or perspectives, everything has different aspects or shades, everything is complex and connected to other phenomena in various ways. Only the series as whole can give a glimpse, a possible impression of reality.
