WORKSHOPS
--Making a journal cover using oil paint marbling This created such unique and beautiful designs I decided to marble paper. Thiis medium creates monoprint designs on paper.
--Traditional marbling with acrylics on silk. I found that silk was a wonderful material to work with and decided to marble silk instead of paper. This technique creates monoprints on silk.
--Sumininigashi marbling on paper and silk First I taught myself this type of Japanese marbling called suminagashi. Eventually I took a workshop using this technique. This is done with special inks that create pastel monoprint designs. It can be done on cloth or paper or any surface that is porous.
--Dyeing and painting on silk A traditional method using gutta resists to "paint" designs on silk with dye. This led to my own experimentation when I ordered some dye and taught myself how to dye silk by combining colors. Another one-of-a-kind monoprint. Eventually I got some French dyes which create very deep and unusually dramatic color combinations. This is my preferred method of art right now but I am always evolving and trying new art forms.
