Mauro Pazzi Pieri, born in the south of Sicily in 1968, has never
exhibited his artwork. After graduating from the DAMS, the Art, Music and
Theater Academy (specializing in art History and Visual communication ),
Mauro worked with different mediums:
video, music, computer, clay, painting, photography. In the early nineties
he started a 3 years teaching experimental program to teach preschool children (3, 4 years old) the way to "read" television and learn
audiovisual language. In this period he made two video animations for a
Television Pilot in cooperation with Kid Screen, the international
organization about TV effects on children. The object of his study was the power of "signs" as basic tool for a minimal communication. Following his
thought he started his first cycle on "Ghosts". All the 20 "ghost" pictures were printed in a traditional photography dark room. The new cycle "DisHuman" started 6 years later, to show a new point of view about the "invisible"
side of human beings. The monoprints have been made starting from a
visual "hunt" around the Internet and through digital work with the computer. The
"matrix" realized in computer graphics has been printed and transformed
again with paint and acid and so printed on canvas. All the works are 20x30
cm and are related to short tales about the "DisHuman" Era.
