Melissa A. Stephens has been creating artwork all of her life. Monoprinting since 1992, she continues to learn new techniques and develop styles through experimentation and classes.
A monoprint is the transfer of oil based inks from the design surface, called a plate, to its final surface: paper. Each design is a one-of-a-kind artwork that cannot be duplicated.

Melissa creates thematic monoprints that explore a specific region's natural environment by reflecting on its history, people, lands, flora, folklore, culture and perspectives. Alongside of each monoprint hangs a narrative describing her intent for its creation. As a result, her artwork resonates a sense of globalization and personal connectedness through story, natural environment and art.
